George Cripps-- born in Newcastle in 1955. From an early age intrigued with the idea of individuals make a living from nurturing and using the things that grow around them. He was also inspired by the challenges of developing a business. Had several attempts at a variety of related projects and consolidated a lot of his experiences by studying for a year at Kirkley Hall College in Northumberland, qualifying with an Advanced National Certificate in Woodland Management in June 1994. While at Kirkley Hall he realised that in order to ensure landowners were prepared to give woodland the attention it needs in order to thrive it was necessary to create a market for the products that can be obtained from it. |

Libby Cripps-- originally from Newcastle, but having been expatriated to North London as a child. Met George the first week after she returned to the North East to study medicine, and they quickly realised they had a great deal in common. They married less than two years later in 1978. She left work to join George in working at setting up woodland regeneration in 1999 |
